It's been very hot for most of these sessions and we've had the outside space of City Academy to ourselves to roam about and tune into. The first few sessions have involved quite a bit of getting used to handling the equipment; plugging things in, moving things around, covering things up, transferring things across, working out why things don't work, turning things up or down. The sessions have also involved field-recording trips around the school site, and as part of those trips slots of at least 3 minutes dedicated to silent listening, from where these recordings come. As you might imagine this has proved a significant challenge but, as you will hear from the clips, a challenge we have met!
The clips here are a mix from different sessions and were made using Zoom H5 recorders with their standard XY microphone. For those of you who don't know the area City Academy is situated on the outskirts of Norwich next to the University of East Anglia. The school grounds are large and fenced in on all sides. There is a small piece of woodland towards the rear of the school and large, sparse lawn covering most of the ground. A gang of crows patrol this lawn both on the ground and in the air. In addition the school is right next to one of the main roads into Norwich, which is also the route to the city's main hospital.

And now onto the next session. It's windy and a little cold this afternoon....
